Pre-orders are currently set at $214 for the 7-inch model, and $284 for the 8.9-inch model. When the devices do launch, you’ll get the same great experience TechnoBuffalo had when we reviewed the Fire HD last year. Not the greatest—that distinction belongs to the vanilla Nexus 7—but certainly a good value when you consider hardware/software/ecosystem.
Executing a wider rollout will only help to grow Amazon’s presence in the tablet market, and could easily hype demand for any subsequent successors, whenever that might be.
